This is the website of New Zealand master of “spontaneous multidimensional assemblage” Andrew Hall.

Andrew Hall has been creating works of art “ever since I had motor skills” and has now been creating sculptures from found materials for fifty years, transforming “just whatever’s available” into humorous or shocking artworks.

“I do like to shock people – a lot of people need to be shocked, really, to shock them out of their zombification.”

Andrew Hall was interviewed by The Shed magazine about 20 – 25 years ago and you can view the video below:

(The video has an inaccuracy; the car that was turned into an artwork that features in the video was not a roadworthy vehicle and therefore was not removed from the road by the police. It was a different car that had been transformed into a work of art by Andrew Hall that was sadly deemed non roadworthy by the police even though its artistic modifications had been designed in such a way to not affect its fitness to be on the road.)

During the years he lived in West Auckland, Andrew Hall used to run “assemblage art” workshops for children where they could create their own sculpture under his tutelage.
